NSTU Leave Classroom Council

By The Canadian Press Published February 03, 2018

The Nova Scotia Teachers Union has withdrawn its participation in a government created committee that makes recommendations for improvements in classroom conditions.

The union said its decision was the direct result of the Education Department's choice to implement the recommendations of the Glaze Report.

Avis Glaze made 22 recommendations, including eliminating the seven elected regional school boards, and taking school principals and vice-principals out of the N-S-T-U.

The province is moving ahead on some of them, including dropping school boards other than the francophone board.
